So here's the scoop, blogland...
My household loves comic books with a passion and for the longest time everyone else in my household had an article of clothing with a comic book character or logo on it, except for me. When we would go out to free comic book day or some other such event as a family, I was left out because everyone else could go in their finest in geek chic and I had none.
Yeah, I guess I could have worn something that my hubby had, but it's just not the same, you know? I wanted -- nay needed! -- to have something that was mine, something that would fit me and that had my sort of style in it. I tried to find something mainstream that would work, but nothing worked. When we had money to spare on wardrobe, there was nothing I liked or it didn't fit properly (yes, Fantastic Four shirt, I'm talking to you!!!). There was much lamenting!
And then DC comics decided to come out with a rainbow of lantern-ness... and a crafty little light lit up over my head. I had some gorgeous space fabric that I had collected... cloth comes in many colours and is fairly inexpensive, as is thread... and I needed to practice my applique techniques anyway... and so I made this:
Pretty nifty, eh? I'm so excited about how it turned out, I'm already plotting out my next super-cool project... ^_~
